Alina Hagen
Manager: OIB, Site Strategy
Editor: GRAPHIC make-overs
Located in Los Angeles, California, Alina's been cranking
out great work ever since that first set of fingerpaints.
Now she brings to Creative Latitude a keen eye and over ten
years experience in graphic design. Through her practice,
AlinaDesign, she develops memorable identity programs, along
with web and print projects. Her work spans the public, private
and corporate sectors.
Alina's got the smarts too. She received her BA degree in
Visual Arts from the University of California, San Diego,
graduating Magna Cum Laude. She's also taken a number of individual
art and design classes over the years, ultimately to school
for three years to earn a certificate in graphic design from
UCLA.
On graphic design, Alina says, "My style is minimalist; I
am influenced by the Swiss school of design. For me, graphic
design is visual communication expressed in the purest form
possible; it must capture the essence of the subject manner
and be presented in a form appropriate to the market and audience."
Alina's feedback on the management team has been invaluable.
Especially her ability to keep a cool head when things get
crazy. Oh sure, we know what you're thinking. "Gee, but they
seem like such a gentle crew." Have you ever put five designers
together in the same virtual room? It can get ... er ...'interesting.'
Yeah, that's a good word. In addition to working on the membership,
Alina checks to insure we're all doing what we're supposed
to be doing and helps keep us in line.
One contribution that Alina makes to CL is that of editor
of the GRAPHIC
Make-overs feature. Members are encouraged to submit
make-over projects they have done and to discuss the process
and theory involved in professionally improving a piece.
When Alina's not busy designing this or that, she enjoys
drawing, painting, photography, stained glass, sewing and
some guy
named Steve.
