Mac or PC? The on going debate by Alina Hagen

This is a question many designers stress over when purchasing their first "professional" computer. Nowadays, it honestly doesn't matter as both platforms have the same software and are compatible between platforms. It used to be that service bureaus only had Macs, but most can take either format now. The biggest issue between the two platforms is fonts. Currently, they are not compatible. There is change in the works however with the recent addition of Opentype fonts. These fonts are compatible on both platforms.

If cost is an important factor to you, or if you already have PC software, then go with a PC. If you are drawn towards the design and interface of the Mac, and can afford the higher price, choose a Mac. It's important to go with what is most comfortable and affordable to you. You will run into people with strong preferences one way or the other, but this is a decision you have to make for yourself to suit your needs.
