The Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment - Before
by Carolyn Crowley, principal of CC Graphic Design

Background:
The Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment produces a school programs catalog every year. When they first contacted me about taking over the layout for the catalog, they did not really have any intention or time to redesign the catalog. However, I was surprised to see such a drab design for a piece representing an organization that taught dynamic subjects such as urban planning, design, urban ecology, and architecture. So last year we just did minimal updates to the catalog such as updating it to 2-colors and getting rid of the headline rules and dingbats that seemed to date the piece.
