Tekworks Consulting - Before
by Erin McCall

Background:

The Situation
I was originally approached by the owner of Tekworks Consulting with a request to “clean up” the existing logo for his computer networking and repair company. Though he had designed the logo himself, he knew the time had come to have an identity developed that would, in his own words, “give the logo more depth and a cleaner, lighter ‘technical’ look,” as well as grow with the company’s increased business and client base.

After seeing the existing logo for the first time, I knew it was time for an
overhaul. I told the client that if he did not mind, I was going to go in
an entirely different direction from what already existed.

The Solution
The original logo was very angular and unfriendly looking, which was working against the client. The original colors were also a bit hard on the eye. The “lightning bolt” in the center of the logo did not reflect or
differentiate the company’s business in any way, and could easily have been used by an electrician, cable provider, etc.

We had established early on in our discussions that Tekworks and its
employees should be perceived as being friendly, personable, approachable, experienced, and trustworthy, especially since his work involves working with his clients’ (doctors, lawyers, etc.) computers and data systems.
