Penelope Dullaghan, Indianapolis-based illustrator and sole proprietor of Penelope Illustration, was presented with the Gold Award for editorial illustration in this year's Portfolios.com Award show. This competition is an international effort to recognize outstanding work in the communications field, and entries are judged by industry professionals looking for exceptional talent and benchmark-level work.
Penelope's piece, originally created for Nuvo Newsweekly, was featured in an article about the estate auction of a wealthy local executive. Penelope chose to depict the house itself being parceled out into sections, each one drifting away from the rest.
After pursuing illustration full-time for less than a year, Penelope is thrilled to receive such an award so soon in her new career, and inspired to continue challenging herself in future assignments and projects.
